Lou and I are sitting in in the Pahaska Tepee Lodge (really) listening to Willie Nelson.  Not because we want to, but because we couldn't make it through the pass this morning due to the snow.  But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
We left Gillette Saturday morning for Cody, WY.  Once again a beautiful start to the day.  Interstate until the turn off for Cody.  And just when we thought the country side could not get prettier, it did.   Once we reached the top of a 9,000 foot pass you  could see forever.  Turned very cold and there was snow on the ground.  Had to stop a couple of times to warm up. Made it to Cody around 1400 and checked into a B&B.  Big mistake, won't go into details here, but the East Liverpool Inn was better.  But, did have a fun afternoon walking around Cody.  First stop was Silver Dollar Saloon for beer.  Had a couple of glasses of Moose Drool (local brew).  Left there to visit the local stores so the girls could contribute to the local economy. Thank goodness nothing to buy (within reason, ask Kim about earrings she found).  Dinner at Proud Prime.  Great food and cheap (but good) wine.  After dinner over to the Irma Hotel (Buffalo Bill's place) to see the evening gunfight in the street.  Good guys won the shootout, imagine that.
Decided to try and beat the weather this morning so we left at 0500.  At 50 miles we entered East Yellowstone.  Spitting snow, but we soldiered on. Started the 5 mile climb to get thru the first pass.  Got suspicious when we saw the snow plow coming our way.  Almost made the summit, but the snow started accumulating.  They say discretion is the better part of valor, so we turned around and came back down the mountain.  Heavy (for we Georgia boys and girls) snow by now.  Stopped at the first place we came to and checked in.   Will spend the night here and try again tomorrow.  Forecast is good so we should have no problem.  Headed for Kim's sister's place.  Will stay there two days.  Bike maintenance and visit to Yellowstone.  Plus, there was a significant bribe (a bottle of XO) from Derinda to stay the extra day.
Will post pictures tomorrow or Tuesday.  Going for a walk in the woods to look for bears.....
