Martha and I "ran" this morning. Spent most of the time talking about how fast we used to be.
What a wonderful day of riding. Off early, in cool weather and abundant sunshine. First stop, Sturgis. The ultimate HOG place. Martha and Lou were in heaven. Kim and I had to park our bikes at the city limits since we ride "rice burners" (but ours don't leak oil). After "hours"in the Harley shop we were off to Deadwood. Neat little tourist town. Didn't walk around, but did go to Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane's grave site. Then it was off to Spearfish Canyon. Beautiful ride thru canyons and trees. A must do if you are in the area. Then off to the Devil's Tower. If you saw "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" you know what the Tower looks like. Declared the first national monument in 1906. Saw two climbers ascending the north side. Then to Gillette where we are now. Long day, but the vistas and the country side are breath taking.
Pow wow tonight after a meal of burritos and Ranger IPA (life is good). Big change in our route. Decided to head due west to Yellowstone. Skipping Montana. Weather and distance played a big role in our decision. Looked like two-three days in cold rain going into MT, but only one day of cold rain going the new route. Will spend tomorrow night in Cody, WY. Lots of pictures to post. One was taken especially for Wiggins and Shoemaker. It will be obvious which one it is.
