Sitting here in the concierge lounge at the Marriott in Iowa City, IA. Hot coffee, real eggs etc.... Can't get used to this as we are staying in a mom and pop place in Kennebec, SD in a couple of days.
Yesterday started off great. Sunny, cool and the LH was flat, arrow straight, and smooth as glass. That is until we got into the Joliette area. Roads had not seen maintenance since Honest Abe was president. The neighbor "hood" we rode through was exciting. Finally back on interstate so we could make up a little time. No bird strikes, but a 5 gallon work bucket fell off a passing truck and decided to bounce all around us (Martha mostly). Then, pulling into the gated parking lot at the hotel, we all tried to go through the gate together and the arm came down and almost took out Kim. Another exciting day on the road.
Today we are off to Sioux City, IA. Another 325 mile day. Not much to see enroute but once we enter SD tomorrow the terrain should change. Should be near Mt. Rushmore on Thrusday. Then the real sight seeing begins.
Oh yeah, Martha and I ran the Goose Crap 5K yesterday. Actually we ran for 29 minutes and at the pace we were running it was probably 5K, and there were geese everywhere which explains the name of the "race".
Will try pictures this afternoon, so tune back in.
Chuck
