Sitting in the lobby of the East Liverpool Motor Lodge (OH), a far cry from the beautiful place we stayed in Gettysburg. Been a busy two days.
Left Staten Island at 0520 Friday so we cold beat the traffic. Arrived in GB just ahead of the rain. Stayed at a beautiful little B&B just outside of town. We each had a separate cottage. Since there were no restaurants close we cooked pasta and drank some cheap wine we bought on the way to the B&B. Cooked the pasta in a water picture in a microwave, since there were no pots or a stove in the cottages. Had a great sit down breakfast on our way out Saturday morning. Stopped by the battlefields and the visitor center. Sobering, brother against brother. Only two southern states had no one fight for the union, SC and VA.
Long day Saturday. 11 hours in the saddle. Rough roads, traffic backups from accidents, high winds, multiple stops to pay tolls. Not sure what PA does with all the toll money they collect, but they don't put it into the roads. Made a stop at Falling Waters, the Frank Lloyd Wright designed house. Beautiful place. Left there and let the GPS have its way with us again. Someone at Garmin must have a mean streak, she screwed us a couple of times. There is no way I would travel without a map, which we use to verify Garmin.
Not sure where we will end up today, probably some place in Indiana. Since we are on "ish" time again and "going where the the Lincoln Highway takes us" I'll just have to wait and see. Will post some cool pictures as soon as we have time to load them.
